5 second Banana Ice Cream!

Not only does it take 5 seconds to make it, you only need 3 ingredients AND you can make it without an ice cream maker! *Gasp* Hold onto your hats folks because this thing is legit!

I totally didn't take any pictures because I was just goofing around, but y'all. It turned out delish! I made a small single serving, but wish I had made a larger one. For myself. Don't judge. I told the hubster about this ice cream a minute later and he said wanted a bite. Um. I totally devoured it in the kitchen. Out of the food processor. My feet never left their spot from start to consumption. So there was definitely no sharing going on. I said, Don't. Judge! Sheesh! Y'all are horrible listeners. At least y'all are awesome readers! <3

The recipe below is for 1 serving, but you might as well go ahead and double your intended serving size because let's be honest. You'll want more than just one serving. Now, let's (attempt to) cool off from this 105 degree weather. Darn Texas heat!!

Banana Ice Cream
I can't remember where I originally saw this recipe, but if you know, let me know so I can give appropriate creds and props to em!!

Ingredients:
½ ripe banana, sliced and frozen (you can use any fruit or a combination of them)
1 tsp vanilla extract
A splash of soy milk (or whatever milk you prefer)

Directions:
1.  Peel and cut your banana into ¼-½" slices. Place banana slices in freezer until frozen.

2.  Place your frozen banana slices, milk, and vanilla extract into your food processor. I used a mini one we received at our house warming 3 years ago and it was the perfect size. Feel free to use the big momma one you received off your wedding registry because it might be collecting dust and is crying to be utilized. Or if you don't have a food processor, a blender works just as good I'm sure! Pulse the food processor/blender until everything is smooth and well blended to the consistency of your liking. Add more milk, if desired.

3.  Scoop, top with toppings, if desired, and serve! Or if you don't feel like sharing, consumption straight out of the food processor/blender is completely acceptable also!
It looks a lil something like this!

Random Mondays!

I know, I know, I know. I'm a horrible blogger. While I previously mentioned blogging would be light, I didn't intend it to be one post a week. Last week was our summer vaca (I might or might not blog about it), so I did horrible job of scheduling posts for the remainder of the week. I only did my Random Monday one. Lame, I know. So if you're over me, I totally understand. Redemption is never easy and I'm not making any promises to because well, under promise and over deliver is always a better philosophy than over promise and under deliver right? Right! Moving on...

Today's Random Monday emoticon:

Item in question:
During our summer vaca last week, our hotel, Farmer's Daughter, in West Hollywood was across the street from the Farmer's Market. You can bet your money that the Farmer's Market was on my agenda for breakfast every day. Why? Because when there's the freshest fruit galore available, I'm all over it baby.
The variety was endless
Pre-sliced fruit. They were so sweet with
none of the work. Heaven!

What do you look forward to at the Farmer's Market?

An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

And me coming back for more!! But it wasn't always that way...

Apples were never my thing. Asian pears, strawberries, mangoes, sure! Apples - not so much. Even smothered in peanut butter (which I could eat by the spoonfuls) couldn't tempt me to give it any consideration. One weekend, my parents were in town to visit us (it's like a quarterly review being performed to make sure we were still operating effectively. Apparently work is getting to me since I just made an analogy of parental visit to something I "test" for at work. Ew!), they had bought a sack of apples to consume, but never did and left them in my fridge. Upon my discovery of them, I grunted in disapproval, "Who's going to eat them? Definitely not me! Ugh". But being the cheapo I am, I didn't want them to go to waste so I said, "What the heck." and packed them with my lunch one day as an afternoon snack.

Ladies and gentleman, cue the choir of angels because that's seriously what happened when I took a bite of said apple. This wasn't what I remembered apples tasting like!! Slice after slice, I was actually enjoying this previously despised upon fruit. To make sure it wasn't a fluke, I took another one to work the following day. And the next. And the one after that. Verdict? I still like these apples!!

I sent my dad a text and inquired the type. Yes, I sent my dad a text. Let's just say my dad got an iPhone way before I did. His response - Fuji. *scratches head* I've heard of green, red, and granny smith apples, but not Fuji. So my response to him was "where do you get them at?" Dumb, I know, but for some reason my brain told me to.

Ever since then, I've gotten Fuji apples and eat about one a day, if not two! I also have TMJ so I have to cut them up prior to consumption. My weapon of choice:

a plastic Solo knife - booyah!

Have you ever tried cutting a steak with a plastic knife. It's something like that, but it did the job. Not without it first splattering my entire cube with apple juice which now requires me to have a stash of Clorox Disinfecting wipes on standby. You're probably asking why I didn't bring a paring knife from home to make my life hecka lot easier. About that... Yea... I don't have an answer for you. *hangs head in embarassement*

During our shopping escapade last weekend, the hubby bought me one of these bad boys:
An apple slicer!

Of course, cutting into an apple for me just isn't right without some splattering, therefore, upon the initial press down, I always get a face full of apple juice. Ugh. But when I get results like this in 10 seconds versus 15 minutes, it makes it all worth it! Maybe I should look into face beauty regimens that involve fresh apple juice...

It's. so. beautiful.  *sniff*

Y'all, I can't tell you how excited I am about my new apple slicer! Have you ever discovered something that's super useful and makes your life helluva a lot easier??
